“Good morning Professor and class,I’m not sure how everyone else feels but I am so excited about the upcoming holiday and finally a real break from school. This week the lesson focussed on television as an expression of art. “Television, the most widely used artistic medium in contemporary culture, grew out of the radio broadcasts of the early decades of the twentieth century and developed in part from the traditions of drama and film” (Jacobus & Martin, 2019). A show that I enjoyed watching was The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which arired for the first time September 10, 1990. This show was huge in the black community because it showed the strengths and weaknessess that families faced even when successful. It showed the importance of leaning on family. The biggest impact this show had on viewers is that it gave hope to those in bad situations that there is a chance things can get better. An influence it had on viewers is it showed a visiable of how being an absent parent effects children and keeps an effect of pain and hurt into adulthood. Debbie Allen was a producer that was brought in to direct the first couple of episodes, the piolot. The first change after being brought in was the name of the main character Vivian, who was originally to be named Wendy Banks. The name change took place because the producer said the character reminded her of her own mother named Vivian (Carter, 2017). ”“Carter, T. (2020, May 11).
