Identify a member of your organization’s education and orientation team. If your organization has a specific nursing education and orientation department this is preferred. If your organization does not have an education and orientation team, identify a representative from human resources who manages orientation of new employees. Interview this individual and answer the following questions:Is there an annual needs assessment completed? If so, how frequently are these completed?When a needs assessment is completed, how is the information from that assessment used in relation to organizational development and training?What model for training design is used for nursing services?How are the specific topics and dimensions of training identified and when are changes made to these topics?Who has input on the topics and dimensions used in training?Are unit-based or department specific development and training programs utilized? Who has input about these programs?How is the effectiveness of the organizational development and training program assessed?What are the training delivery modes utilized?What are some challenges faced with the implementation of the organizational development and training program?What is one aspect of the program you would like to change and why?
