Our daily way of life has a significant effect on our planet. How we live, how much we eat, and how much energy we use all have an impact on our world. According to the Global Footprint Network, the Ecological Footprint measures the amount of biologically productive land and sea area an individual, a region, all of humanity, or human activity that competes for biologically productive space. The current Ecological Footprint Accounts use global hectares as a measurement unit. A persons footprint includes producing renewable resources, accommodating urban infrastructure and roads, and breaking down or absorbing waste products, particularly carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuel. The Footprint then can be compared to how much land and sea area is available. For example, daily, CO2 emissions are created by heating, cooking, working, using heat, electricity, and driving cars.According to the global footprint network, the ecological footprint is the only metric that measures how much nature we use, and how much we have. An ecological footprint is measured in hectares, which is about two and a half acres.Watch the following videoPlay Video Figure out your ecological footprint fromhttp://www.footprintcalculator.org/ Recorda screenshot of your top three consumption categories and your ecological footprint in global hectares. Post your results from the activity and then write about three ways you plan on lowering your ecological footprint. Then, investigate specific actions you might take to reduce your footprint. Which of them might be practical to undertake in the next six month?Write a three-paragraph response and post it for your classmates to see. Please include the picture (screenshot) and APA citations.
