Write a research paper on the Mexican War.

The Mexican War in 1845 is still considered one of the most controversial in American history. Many referred to it as a blatant land grab. Mexicans remember it as they lost half of their territory. It was certainly a reflection of Manifest Destiny. It was favored by many in the north and south, but mainly by southerners. They viewed it as land upon which to expand slavery. Many important people criticized it including Henry David Thoreau in his essay “Civil Disobedience” that you read last week. Others included army officer and future General and president Ulysses S Grant. A little known but rising young politician named Abraham Lincoln also spoke out against it.Read President Polk’s “Request for War with Mexico” https://wwnorton.com/college/history/america10_cp/ch/13/documents.aspx?selTab=4#titles (Links to an external site.)The read Congressman Abraham Lincoln’s response: https://wwnorton.com/college/history/america10_cp/ch/13/documents.aspx?selTab=5#titles (Links to an external site.)Answer the following questions by 11:59 pm on 1-4.
