Renewable energy sources are better for the environment.Since the industrial revolution, greenhouse gases in the atmosphere have increased by more than 33%. By using renewable energy sources, we could reduce greenhouse gas emissions which are a huge factor in climate change. Climate change is very dangerous to all life on earth. Climate change causes more severe and frequent weather like storms, wild fires, floods, and droughts. It also causes ice sheets to melt which results in higher sea levels that can flood and destroy coastal cities and animal habitats. Climate change also makes it more difficult to grow crops as water supplies diminish. The list of climate change issues caused by greenhouse gas emissions goes on and on.2.) Renewable energy sources are better for the economy.By diversifying our energy supply we would not rely so heavily on fuels that are exhaustible. It would also reduce our dependence on imported fuels, making us a more self-sufficient country. By switching to renewable energy, we would also be creating many much-needed jobs in our economy. For resources like wind turbines and solar panels, we would need skilled manufacturers, installers and maintenance workers.Citations:Wuebbles, Donald. “How Will Climate Change Affect the United States in Decades to Come?” Eos, 3 November 2017, https://eos.org/features/how-will-climate-change-affect-the-united-states-in-decades-to-come (Links to an external site.).Gielen, Dolf, et al. “The Role of Renewable Energy in the Global Energy Transformation.” Energy Strategy Reviews, Elsevier, 31 January 2019, www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2211467X19300082 (Links to an external site.).“Benefits of Renewable Energy Use.” Union of Concerned Scientists, 14 July 2008, www.ucsusa.org/resources/benefits-renewable-energy-use (Links to an external site.).“Global Warming Effects.” Environment, National Geographic, 3 May 2021, www.nationalgeographic.com/environment/article/global-warming-effects (Links to an external site.).“Local Renewable Energy Benefits and Resources.” EPA, Environmental Protection Agency, 5 Mar. 2021, www.epa.gov/statelocalenergy/local-renewable-energy-benefits-and-resources (Links to an external site.).
